#AttentionUK is campaigning to destigmatise and improve awareness of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, a mental health condition better known as ADHD.

We focus particularly on health care settings, higher education, and the media.

#AttentionUK exists because in 2021, people with ADHD continue to experience stigma across the UK, despite the improved awareness of other mental health conditions over the last decade.

Studies have found that adults with untreated ADHD are…

7 times more likely than their peers to have had multiple vehicle crashes,
twice as likely to be fired from a job,
and 9 times more likely to end up in prison

…than people without the disorder.

At present, ADHD services are deeply underfunded. The majority of adults with ADHD in the UK have no timely access to NHS treatment. Without treatment, it is easy for adults with ADHD to make mistakes and develop self-destructive coping techniques.

Support is essential. At present, it is thought that up to 40% of the UK prison population may have untreated ADHD. Yet, people with ADHD are just as kind and intelligent as everyone else. They deserve the same chances at success as everyone else. They deserve better than this.

ADHD is the one of the most common mental health disorders in the world. people with the condition deserve more recognition and support.

So let’s start paying it some attention.
